안정된 정격출력(rated output)과 외부환경에 대한 평가를 위해 전기 및 기계적 안정성과 수명등의 시험이 진행된다.
태양광 모듈의 형식승인(type approval of photovoltaic modules)을 위한 규정은 아래와 같다.
